Youngstown 2010: Neighborhoods to air on Western Reserve Public Media

KENT, Ohio — Sept. 11, 2008 — The city of Youngstown’s efforts to revitalize its neighborhoods are featured in the 15th installment of Western Reserve Public Media’s Youngstown 2010 series. Youngstown 2010: Neighborhoods will air on Monday, Sept. 15 at 10:30 p.m.

The program, hosted by news reporter Cynthia Barnes, is a half-hour conversation with local leaders about changes that are both under way and forthcoming in the neighborhoods of Idora, the Garden District and Hope Six. The project is a component of the larger Youngstown 2010 citywide plan that provides a foundation for the city’s future.

Providing insight into the project’s progress are these civic and business leaders:

  • Bill D’Avignon, director of community development and planning for the city of Youngstown

  • Paul Hagman, project manager of Faniro Architects

  • Gary Wakeford, president of Syncro Medical Innovations, a company that moved from Macon, Ga., to Youngstown

The Western Reserve Public Media Youngstown 2010 series is funded by the Tony Lariccia family of Youngstown. The next episode in the series, Youngstown 2010: Education, discusses how educators are working in partnership with city leaders to elevate young minds. The hour-long program will air on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 10 p.m.
