More than 2,500 people in Summit
County have some form of mental retardation or developmental
disability. A variety of programs exist to help these individuals,
including a new and innovative program sponsored by the
Hattie Larlham organization.
The program is Constant Companion
Doggie Day Care and Boarding, located on 3430 Arlington
Rd. in Akron. Stemming from Hattie Larlham, which provides
services to people with mental retardation and developmental
disabilities, Constant Companion provides 20 jobs for special-needs
citizens. The day care boasts 10 themed rooms available
for overnight lodging or day-long visits. The facility also
features a group playroom and fenced-in outdoor area.
